About Kc4u
Project Goals & Objectives
Kc4u aims to empower young athletes to become ambassadors for a more united and inclusive Europe through mixed-nation, mixed-gender K4 kayaking, whilst increasing youth sports participation and inspiring more athletes to compete in K4s (4 person kayaks).
Bringing together over 750 children aged 8-18 yrs from 9 kayak clubs and 4 schools in rural Slovenia and regional Sardinia, Kc4u’s broad-ranging activities & deliverables helped us achieve the objectives of:
- Promoting a more cohesive Europe with on and off-water experiences which encourage a sharing of cultures, languages, and historical heritage
- Prioritising and promoting gender equality
- Providing new opportunities to socioeconomically and geographically disadvantaged youth
- Enhancing multi-linguistic proficiency through digital learning and personal interactions
- Helping improve social, physical and mental well-being of youth through the team sport of crew kayaking, and developing a lifelong love of physical activity
- Connecting participants to the natural environment, raising awareness of water pollution, and encouraging personal action to eliminate it
- Creating an international alliance between sports clubs, schools & their communities, using sport as a transformative tool to help develop well-rounded, active EU citizens
- Increasing coach mobility, widening the international networks of participating organisations, and facilitating the development of innovative practices, training methods, and resources via the exchange of knowledge, competences, and ideas
- Demonstrating the benefits of including K4’s in club programs and competitions
- Assisting sporting organisations across Europe to replicate the project (or its elements), ensuring long term sustainability and expansion of the project’s benefits.
Who are we?
Kc4u was founded by an international group of coaches determined to drive positive change in youth sports and sprint kayak education
Conceived, developed, and implemented by the coaches and athletes of Kajak Klub Zlatorog (SLO) and Circolo Nautico Oristano (ITA), Kayak Crews 4 Youth is an international collaborative project implemented as part of Erasmus+ Sport. Our dedicated team has a wealth of experience in nurturing talent and crafting programs for everyone from beginners taking their first strokes, to seasoned Olympians.
